If you are looking for a fun and engaging lesson plan then here’s a Noah’s Ark Lesson Plan designed for a Sunday school or kids’ Bible class, focusing on how God keeps His promises.

Lesson Plan: Noah’s Ark – God Keeps His Promises

Age Group: 5-10 years
Duration: 45-60 minutes

Lesson Objectives:

  1. Understand the story of Noah’s Ark.
  2. Learn how God kept His promise to Noah and how He keeps His promises to us today.
  3. Engage with activities that reinforce the theme of trusting God’s promises.

Materials Needed:

  • Bible or a children’s Bible
  • Noah’s Ark Coloring Page (like the one above)
  • Craft supplies (markers, crayons, scissors, paper, glue)
  • Animal stickers (optional)
  • Large paper or a whiteboard for drawing
  • A beanbag or soft toy for a review game

Lesson Structure:

1. Introduction (5-10 minutes)

  • Gathering Activity: As kids arrive, hand out the Noah’s Ark coloring page and let them begin coloring while you get to know them.
  • Opening Prayer: Invite the children to pray for open hearts and minds to learn about God.

2. Bible Story Time (15-20 minutes)

  • Read or Tell the Story of Noah’s Ark: (Genesis 6:9–9:17)
  • Focus on Noah’s obedience, God’s instructions to build the ark, and the flood.
  • Highlight how God protected Noah, his family, and the animals because Noah trusted and obeyed Him.
  • Discuss the rainbow as a sign of God’s promise never to flood the whole earth again.
  • Key Verse: Genesis 9:13 – “I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.”
  • Discussion Questions:
  • Why did God ask Noah to build an ark?
  • How do you think Noah felt when God told him to build the ark?
  • What promise did God make to Noah? How does He keep His promises to us today?

3. Activity Time (15-20 minutes)

  • Craft: Rainbow of God’s Promises:
  • Each child creates their own rainbow using craft supplies (colored paper, markers, or crayons).
  • Have them write or draw one way God has kept a promise in their life (such as “God loves me” or “God keeps me safe”).
  • Attach the rainbows to a larger paper with the words “God Keeps His Promises!” on it.

4. Group Discussion and Reflection (10 minutes)

  • What Does It Mean for Us Today?
  • Talk about how God always keeps His promises and give examples like God’s love, protection, and guidance.
  • Invite the children to share times when they trusted God or saw Him answer prayers.

5. Review Game (5-10 minutes)

  • Noah’s Ark Toss: Use a beanbag or soft toy. Ask review questions related to the lesson (e.g., “What did God tell Noah to build?”). Toss the beanbag to a student after each question. If they answer correctly, they get to toss it to someone else.
  • Sample Questions:
  • What sign did God give to Noah after the flood?
  • Who was on the ark with Noah?
  • How long did it rain?

6. Closing Prayer (5 minutes)

  • Thank God for His promises and for always keeping them. Encourage children to trust in God’s promises in their everyday lives.

Optional Extensions:

  • Take-Home Activity: Give each child a simple “God Keeps His Promises” bracelet or rainbow sticker to remind them of the lesson throughout the week.
  • Memory Verse Practice: Challenge the kids to memorize Genesis 9:13 by the next session.

This lesson plan will engage children with the story of Noah while reinforcing the idea that God is faithful to His promises. Let me know if you’d like to adjust any part!
